Another lovely Break Fast Buffet sighted at Serena Brasserie, Intercontinental Kuala Lumpur with authentic ‘Balik Kampung’ dishes to whet the appetites!
With the Ramadhan approaching, this is the period to strengthen ties with family and friends. Intercontinental KL chefs and kitchen team are busy whipping up a feast of traditional ‘Balik Kampung’ dishes to enchant their guest with a memorable ‘Buka Puasa’ experience.
Serena Brasserie has a very warm and inviting décor with plenty of well spaced tables for guest to dine in comfort. There is also a lovely view of their waterfall cascading in the background to provide some R&R time.
Highlights of ‘Kampung’ dishes are simply gorgeous with a plethora of rendangs, curries and many more…
The rabbit stole the show! Arnab Masak Rendang Kuning is one of the chef’s specialties and was cooked till tender and creamy. Redolent of spices and coconut cream, the flavors were bursting with richness. If someone didn’t tell me this was rabbit, I almost thought it was a small chicken! J
A good testament to any Malay cuisine in my books has to be the rending! Rendang Rampai Darul Makmur may sound fancy but it was truly a lovely authentic rending cooked to perfection.
One look at Kalio Udang Galah Minang Kabal had me mesmerized at the glorious crustacean. Slightly creamy, the sauce was a bit salty eaten solo but would have paired perfectly with rice.
Ayam Golek Percik had the heady aroma of grill while being dressed in a lovely peanut sauce to heighten its flavors. Moist and tender, I enjoyed this a lot!
If you love crab, Ketam Goreng Berempah Bersama Tepung will have you hooked. Crispy and spicy, this crab is quite addictive as I simply could not stop with one…
Give me a sour curry and I am a happy camper. Although I am not a fan of fish head, Asam Pedas Kepala Ikan Bersama Bendi was delicious. I just love the sourness of the curry and flooded my rice with this gravy.
Nasi Kerabu Ulaman was so pretty to look at with its speckles of herbs intermixed with rice. The herbs lend a lovely aroma to the rice!
Masak Pindang N.Sembilan Perut Bersama Rebung Muda was tinted with a beautiful yellow hue from the tumeric. Creamy and luscious, the sauce was rich and flavorful.
Other additional dishes on daily rotation basis can be sampled as follows:
In addition to the above dishes, one can delight in a host of main course from Chicken & Green Beans in Chili Tomato Sauce, Rendang Tok Perak (Spicy Beef Stew), Ayam Percik Kota Bahru (Kota Bahru Barbequed Marinated Chicken), Crab Curry, Pahang Patin Fish with Tempoyak, Marinated Fried Quail with Herbs, Squid Sambal with Bitter Bean & Indian Onion, Monghul Lamb, Deep-fried Chicken with Tumeric, Malacca Grilled Fish, Beef Rib & Young Jackfruit Curry, Rogan Josh (Kashmir Aromatic Lamb) and lots more!
The menu at Serena Brasserie changes daily and also offers all-time favourites such as Bubur Lambuk with Condiments, varieties of Noodles, Grilled Seafood, Satay, Lemang, Rojak Mamak and Sotong Kangkung. One can also sample international fair like Pizzas, Pies and Puffs on the carving board. Stir-fried Seafood, Lok-Lok and Assorted Dim Sum are at the Oriental Station. Indian delectables that are simply divine are Tandoori Chicken, Murtabak, Naan, Roti Canai and various hot spicy curries while the Whole Lamb with Stuffed Nasi Briyani is absolutely irresistible.
Live stations spread around will feature Arabic delicacies like Mahmous Rubyan (Shrimp with Garlic and Cilantro), Kebab, Chicken Molokhia and Grilled Fish with Tahini Sauce, Rojak Buah, Popiah, Hainanese Chicken Rice, Apom Balik, Yong Tofu, Chee Cheong Fun and Goreng-Goreng.
All these and more! The ‘Buka Puasa’ buffet has mouth-watering array of desserts, fruits and selections of ice cream. Wash it all down with Green Bean with Durian Soup, Pengat Pisang, Malay Kuih, Tapai Pulut, Tapai Ubi, Bakhlawa Pictachio & Almond, assorted cakes & tartlets.
