The Mix, Holiday Inn Kuala Lumpur Glenmarie: A Heartful Valentine’s Day Set Menu!

Valentine’s Day, named after the martyr Saint Valentine, is a special day to express your love for your loved ones! Are you the type to celebrate this special day or do you celebrate everyday as Valentine’s Day? J

Valentine’s Day is indeed a special occasion and for those who are trying to impress someone… whether it is someone courting a love one, a husband expressing his love for his wife or even a friend who wants to appreciate a best friend, this special day befits the purpose all for the sake of L.O.V.E!

As the special day is just around the corner, one usually seeks out somewhere to dine and wine their loved ones! Recently, I had the honors of reviewing a Valentine’s Day Set Menu at The Mix, Holiday Inn Kuala Lumpur Glenmarie. The Mix is famed for its fabulous cocktails which I had relished before here. The contemporary and retro ambience coupled with fabulous drinks and live bands exuded a pretty cool and hip place to hang out!

For this 14^th February dinner, The Mix is offering A Valentine’s Day Special Set priced at RM 90++ per person. The four-course dinner ends with coffee or tea. Here’s a sneak peak at what the four-course has to offer…

Diners can opt to have a glass of wine or a glass of juice to start off the dinner.

We started off with a Moroccan Grilled Chicken Salad, a fresh salad with mixed greens, grilled chicken, tomato, cucumber and bread stick dressed with a vibrant dressing of balsamic vinegar, coriander, mint and olive oil. Refreshing and perky for a starter while a cupid’s heart completes the setting!

Wild Mushroom Soup was the second course. Mushroom lovers are treated to a wonderful aroma of heady and earthy flavors of intense mushroom flavors in the thick and creamy soup. Love the simplicity and warming flavors of this soup!

For mains, there are two options where one can select from a duo or meat or seafood.

I had the Atlantic Grilled Salmon and Baked Cod with sautéed asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes. I was surprised to see both fish combined into a nicely shaped fish slice wrapped with leeks. A creamy and citrus herb sauce enriched the fish while the mild garlic mashed was decently light. An adorable heart made from beet completed the passion in the dish!

The second option of Oven Baked Chicken Roulade and New Zealand Rack of Lamb was served with Lyonaise potatoes, roast root vegetables and rosemary shitake jus. I had a taste and thought that the rack of lamb was scrumptious. Well seasoned and cooked till medium pink, the meat was tender and juicy. I also enjoyed the Lyonaise potatoes very much and kept stealing this from my partner!! Chicken roulade fair decent and was tender and moist.

The final course is dessert of course! A Fudge Brownie Melt served with ice cream maybe a simple dessert but they say chocolate is the way to melt someone’s heart!! Enough said… J

The course meal ends with coffee or tea and the ladies gets a stalk of rose compliment of The Mix!

Executive Chef Francis Lau and his team are set to impress and brings an international flair to the cuisine at The Mix. Gathering his world wide experience to the table, one can definitely expect dishes with an international influence in flavors and presentation.

Not part of the set dinner but you should definitely check out the cocktails at The Mix!! I loved my Lychee Mojito and Strawberry Margarita as both drinks had a great balance of alcohol and fruity flavors.

In addition, I do have to compliment the live band, Zynchro band, all the way from Philipines. They have powerful vocals and could really belt out various songs from Michael Bublè to Rihanna!  Check out their details here.

The Mix, a myriad of pleasures to chilled out and enjoy luscious cocktails, food, music and some R&R after a long’s day work. I loved their 80s music played that night before the live band which brings back so much memories of my early years!!
