A slice of Secret Recipe’s cake! It was hard to believe and my first thoughts were there’s gonna be a catch… but was I in for a surprise.  Invited to preview the latest promotion from one of Malaysia’s famous cake giant, I was really eager to find out more about this promotion.

Everyone’s gossiping about this promotion and I can certainly see why… its simply irresistible! No catch and the promotion is as simple as it gets.

Dine-in at a Secret Recipe outlet and with a purchase of every 2 a la carte main meals, you get to buy one slice of Secret Recipe cake at RM1. If you purchase 4 main meals with your friends, you get to buy 2 slices of cakes at RM1 each and so forth. All cakes except premium cakes are eligible for this promotion.

Feeling carnivorous that day, my foodie friend and me ordered an Irish Lamb Shank and Stewed Aussie Beef Steak. While we waiting for our orders to arrive, our drinks of Frozen Iced Lemon Tea and Iced Blended Cappuccino arrived.

Frozen Iced Lemon Tea is always a must for me at Secret Recipe!  It’s a blended version of the popular drink and I love how the drink is so refreshing, tangy and icy cold.

My foodie friend thoroughly enjoyed his Iced Blended Cappuccino, hesitating to share because it was yummy!

Our mains arrive and I was pleased with the portion of the meat. My Stewed Aussie Beef Steak may not look that great but the flavors are indeed delicious. Slow-cooked for hours, the meat is tender and falls apart with a slight nudge of a fork. The brown gravy was earthy and tasty that I even use my French fries to soak up the gravy goodness.

The Irish Lamb Shank seemed to be a popular choice that day. I can see quite a few tables having this that day. Simply served with a big sweet bun on the side, there’s plenty of rich brown gravy for mopping. I stole a bit and found the meat slightly firm but tender. Well braised, the lamb shank makes a hearty meal for meat lovers.

If meat is not your preference, fear not, Secret Recipe has plenty of other mains like Fish & Chips, Carribean Style Fish Fillet, Pan Grilled Dory with Lobster Sauce, Grilled Pepper Chicken, Chicken Parmigiana, Chicken Cordon Bleu, Lasagna and a nice choice of pastas. There is also Asian fare like Noodle in Tom Yum Soup, Secret Recipe Fried Rice with Satay, Curry Seafood Laksa, Vietnamese Beef Noodle Soup and more.

With over 30 choices of cakes, you’ll definitely be spoilt for choice! We feasted on Choc Cheese Berries, Chocolate Banana and Durian Durian. Of course we stole some cakes from other foodies…

The Choc Cheese Berries is my favorite! Overloaded with sultry chocolate, layered with cheese and studded with berries, one gets a composition of chocolate with creamy and tangy flavors. Luscious in every bite!

My foodie friend insisted that he must have Durian Durian, his all-time favorite cake at Secret Recipe. Its availability depends on the season.

I stole a bite of Chocolate Banana from some friends and thought its pretty yummy too!
