Dorsett Kuala Lumpur Photography Exhibition and Contest with Sony World Photography Awards

Dorsett Hospitality International in partnership with 2019’s prestigious Sony World Photography Awards and World Photography Organisation is having a photo exhibition at Windows Lounge, Dorsett Kuala Lumpur from now till 28 June 2019. The exclusive exhibition showcases 15 award-winning images to support local art & talents from our shores as well as all over the world.

The pop-up exhibition will be featured in 5 key Dorsett Hotels around the world and is a must see cultural experience.

The exhibition was kicked off with an evening event at Dorsett Kuala Lumpur where invited guests along with Sony World Photography Awards Malaysian Winner, Mr. Michael Chee Yen Chuan and Dorsett Kuala Lumpur team was present for the first viewing of the images.

Among the images present was Michael Chee’s Have You Been to a Chinese Opera?, a colourful piece that captivates the essence of the art of opera. Michael was the Malaysian Winner for the Open Culture category.

Others include Tracey Lund’s Underwater Gannets, Christy Lee Rogers’ Harmony, Marc Stapelberg’s Untitled, Martin Stranka’s Dreamers and Warriors, Pan Jianhua’s Shadow Puppetry and more.

4. You will be notified if you’re being shortlisted as the top 10 “most creative and vibrant” #DorsettDiscoveries posts via personal IG message and will be required to email us your original high-resolution photo for verification.

5. The shortlisted photos and final winner announcements will be communicated via the #DorsettDiscoveries Photography Contest event page on Dorsett Kuala Lumpur & Dorsett Singapore’s Facebook page and @dorsettkualalumpur & @dorsettsingapore IG account, stay tuned to both pages for contest updates.

6. Final winner will be contacted once again via email on the prize giving procedures.

Terms & Conditions:

• The #DorsettDiscoveries photography contest is opened to residences of Malaysia and Singapore

• Photo must be taken in high resolution either via camera or a smartphone

• Original high-resolution photo in Exchangeable Image File Format (EXIF) is to be emailed across upon being contacted and notified via email to be shared via personal IG message

• Should there be no response received within 3 working days upon being contacted and notified of the shortlist, the participant is deemed to have withdrawn from the contest

• Only shortlisted participants will be contacted

• It is compulsory for all hashtags mentioned on the participation steps above to be eligible for the contest

• Judging criteria is to be based on the most creative and vibrant posts

• Judges include Michael Chee – Malaysia Winner | Open Culture Category of 2019 Sony World Photography Awards, Albert Tan – Singapore Winner of 2019 Sony World Photography Awards, Dorsett Kuala Lumpur and Dorsett Singapore

• Associates & immediate family members of Dorsett Hospitality International, Sony Malaysia and Sony Singapore are not eligible to participate in the contest 

• Dorsett Hospitality International reserves the right to any changes of the contest, and will not accept any imagery and content related to violence, porn and against the local law

• Selected winners are to provide their full name, Malaysian NRIC no. and Singaporean NRIC no. respectively.

• You agree to participate in related publicity and to the use of Your name and likeness for the purposes of advertising, promotion, and publicity without additional compensation.

• All participants understand that any image submitted to the contest may be used by Dorsett Hospitality International, its event partners, for marketing and promotional purposes of you the author and the event only, for a maximum of three years
