A short weekend retreat, we found ourselves back at the Best Western i-City Hotel for some R&R time with the family. A great place for a simple and affordable Cuti Cuti Malaysia without having to burn a hole-in-the-pocket, Best Western I-City has all the great markings for a family retreat with its nearby i-City Theme Park and Central i-city Mall – the latest mall in Shah Alam.

Its been a year since our last visit and the hotel has certainly been well-kept at a glance. From the moment one walks in, the hotel staff greeted us with warm smiles. We quickly checked into our room but not before stopping to check out a quaint corner where kids can pay RM5 to take a fish to their room for the hotel stay.

Our room was clean and well-kept. Located on the 17th floor, we also had a lovely view of the cityscape from our room. The room was just as spacious as our first time and everything was well-maintained, a plus point for the hotel’s effort.

There’s only positive remarks for our room since everything was just as we remembered from our last staycation. Bed was comfortable with pristine white smooth sheets. Read about our first staycation at Best Western i-City here.

The long desk next to the tv was perfect since I had some work to complete that weekend. From the cool air-conditioning to the solid wi-fi connection and the basic room and bathroom amenities was good.

Best Western i-City has just started a new Friday night All-You-Can-Eat Seafood BBQ at The View Café for foodies who enjoy a good bbq. While there are not many selections of dishes in the spread, the large varieties of seafood for the bbq more than made up for the feast. The All-You-Can-Eat Seafood BBQ starts from 7pm onward and is set on the alfresco area of the café.

During that evening, everything was perfect! From the sunset skyline to the colourful settings on the alfresco area, it was an evening to remember as we all enjoyed the beautiful ambiance with the delicious spread of seafood bbq.

Priced at RM75 per adult and RM52.50 per child/senior citizen, the All-You-Can-Eat Seafood BBQ even includes one bottle of beer or mocktail per paying guest.

From the freshest cuts of salmon and other fishes to scallops, crabs, tiger prawns, mussels, oysters and clams, there’s just something for everyone. Just select your choice of seafood and let the chefs do the cooking at the live stations.

There are some fillers like pasta, rice, potatoes along with salads, soup and even desserts to complete the buffet spread.

Needless to say, our evening resulted in a wonderful sleep after that delicious seafood feast!

The next morning, breakfast was another wonderful start to the weekend. The View Café offers a wide spread of breakfast goodies from international Western favorites to local delights. From eggs cooked to your order along with sausages, chicken ham, cereals and freshly baked pastries to local roti jala, porridge and other dishes, we certainly ate our breakfast like a king…

We took a rest to wonder around the hotel area. For all registered hotel guests staying at Best Western i-City, one is entitled to the Free Unlimited i-City Waterworld access. Do check out the waterpark if you and your little ones enjoy a good splash on the rides and pools.

For lunch, The View Café has a new Go Beyond Signature menu that features a creative fusion list of dishes. The menu includes Cincalok Beef (RM28), Salmon Noodles (RM25), Salmon Roulade (RM25), Malaysian Spaghetti Classic (RM18), Satay Burger (RM22), Tuna Miso (RM30), Coffee Lamb (RM30) and Stuffed Tempoyak Eggplant (RM18).

We tried the Satay Burger and Coffee Lamb along with Go Green Mocktail (RM12) and Lime Ginger Mojito Mocktail (RM12). The Satay Burger was decent and had good flavours. The Coffee Lamb was a tad too cooked for my liking but this can be easily rectified if you specify upfront to the waitstaff.

We decided to rest and take a nap in the afternoon since the weather was hot and humid. After that, we strolled to the i-City Theme Park in the evening as well as to check out the latest Central i-City Mall around that area. Best Western i-City offers Free Shuttle to the mall for registered guests so make your reservations with the front desk to arrange the shuttle service.

We returned in the late evening and tried out the hotel’s new QR Code App for room service. One simply needs a scanner app to scan the QR Code in your room and you will be directed to the website to place your order.

Honestly it was really easy to order, and we placed our order in few minutes. One needs to specify whether to charge the order to their respective credit card or to the hotel room. Feeling ravenous, we had quite a few dishes along with some drinks.

The hotel room service menu is very affordable with a solid list of local and international dishes. After we placed our order, the food showed up within the hour with most dishes still warm and nicely presented.

It was certainly a good dinner that evening. The Mushroom Soup was superb with its thick bisque consistency and full of earthy mushroom aroma and flavours. Little one’s Spaghetti Bolognaise was yummy as he happily polished off the pasta and also stole a few bites of the delicious communal Seafood Hor Fun which we ordered to share. The Seafood Hor Fun is a must-order as the hor fun had good wok hei and the gravy was nicely flavoured. Hubby had a Grilled Chicken Chop while I opted for Seared Rib Eye Steak.

Dinner was certainly better than lunch! All the dishes were very yummy and served warm which is always good denotation that the waitstaff was efficient in getting room service quickly to the room.

After dinner, we just enjoyed the beautiful glittering city view from our room and enjoyed some movies before turning in for an early night.

The next morning, breakfast again was very satisfying. A short rest and it was time to check out…

Another pleasant staycation at Best Western i-City for the weekend. It was a short and sweet staycation in Shah Alam and we enjoyed the experience of the theme park, nearby mall and even the room service.
