Hotel Kuala Lumpur for a Bucked Out
Seafood Buffet that will knock your socks off! The restaurant’s all-day-dining
has offered seafood buffet before but this time its bigger, better, saucier and
filled with copious seafood prepared in various cooking methods.
Available
every Friday and Saturday from 6.30pm to 10.30pm, the Bucked Out Seafood Buffet is truly King Neptune’s ransom as there
are so much fresh seafood, with a quite few literally kicking, to select from.
The
main limelight must be the live mud crabs! Go ahead and select your crab, pick
a sauce and hand it over to let Executive Sous Chef Amirul and culinary team do
the rest. Your crab or seafood will be delivered to your table as you will hand
them a table pin to denote your seat.
The
crabs range from medium to large and are consistently refilled so fear not for
picking your own crab from the station. Sauces available are Chili Sauce, Salted Egg Sauce, Curry Cheese
Sauce, Sambal Sauce, Thai Coriander Lime Garlic Sauce, Sichuan Chili Sauce
and Rendang Sauce.
Needless
to say, we opted for Chili Crab with
Mantou. Our crabs were mildly hot with sticky sweetness with golden crispy
mantou buns on the side. There’s no better way to dive straight into this than
to simply use our fingers to ensure full finger-licking sensations. Of course,
the restaurant provides disposable gloves for those who needs one.
Crabs
were fresh, juicy and well smothered with the sauce. My friends’ platter was
drenched in sauce while mine was not as saucy as theirs. Nevertheless, we
enjoyed ours moreishly with the buns. Super finger-licking yum as we picked
through the chunks of sweet tender crab meat…
Besides
mud crab, there are plenty of other seafood such as live yabbies, flower crab, black
mussels, green lip mussels, bamboo clams, scallops, freshwater prawns, tiger
prawns, giant clams and more. The choices are deliciously mind-boggling!
We
opted for Clams, Mussels and Scallops in
Salted Egg Sauce and was pleasantly happy at sight of the luscious creamy
sauce smothering the bivalve molluscs. Cooked well, the choices of seafood went
well with the salted egg sauce. The salted egg is not overly powering, allowing
us to enjoy the sweetness of the seafood.
The
Thai Coriander Lime Garlic Sauce with
Freshwater Prawns and Yabbies was our favorite of the evening. The oomph of
heat from the chilies, sharp tangy notes of lime and subtle fresh coriander aroma
along with garlicky hit really elevated the seafood’s freshness and sweetness. Every
crustacean had soaked up the sauce thoroughly and cooked perfectly that all the
effort of peeling was truly worth the effort. Wickedly lip-smacking yum!!
